LAPD Community Police Academy starts Sept. 10th

Starting September 10th, LAPD is offering its 8-week series of Thursday-night Community Police Academy classes as part of its Community Police Advisory Board (CPAB) program.
Classes are held Thursday nights, 6PM to 9PM, September 10th through graduation ceremony on October 29th.
Each class is led by a highly experienced (and communicative!) officer or detective from gang, narcotics, vice, communications, cybercrime, even traffic departments.

  • Each talks about their beat, equipment, in-the-trenches conditions, and the laws that govern their actions
  • They show you videos, diagrams and slides from real-life situations-and are eager to answer questions
  • In your final class, you get to practice in the same “shoot/don’t shoot” firing simulator that LAPD trains in!
  • It’s very relaxed! Ask questions. Pose challenges. No exams or tests. If you must miss a class or two, that’s not a problem.

When finished, you receive a certificate and the opportunity to participate in a committee of your choice to help LAPD reduce and prevent crime.
In return, LAPD asks that you educate friends, family and others with your new knowledge!

Classes held in the Bomb Squad room at:
